South Bend Orthopaedics Adds Konica Aero DR

South Bend Orthopaedics Improves Patient Throughput With Konica Minolta Aero DR Technology

There is no greater challenge for the Medical Practice Manager than to continually devise and implement processes that result in efficient clinical operations. Busy Physicians and clinical support personnel require that their time and talents be maximized while simultaneously maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction. It is a delicate balancing act that is best accomplished through a combination of experienced personnel and the utilization of available healthcare technologies.

When Stacey Linville, Clinical Coordinator of South Bend Orthopaedics, realized that she needed to address the growing volume of radiology examinations being performed at SBO's two facilities, she turned to Alpha Imaging for a solution.

Working closely with Alpha Sales Consultant, Chris Cass, they determined that by retrofitting existing rooms with Konica Minolta Aero DR flat panel detectors to work alongside their existing CR platform, exam workflows would improve substantially and future growth would also be addressed. "Our time studies have shown that the Konica Aero DR solution has cut exam times roughly in half", said Stacey, "this will have a dramatic effect on patient and clinician wait times and result in better clinical operations overall".

The good news for this 18 Physician Orthopedic practice located in South Bend, Indiana goes beyond the improvements in efficiency. Stacey states that, "Our physicians have seen a substantial improvement in image quality with Konica DR, and we have been able to reduce patient radiation dose levels at the same time".

Of course, a success story like this doesn't happen all by itself. The Alpha sales consultant, service team, and applications all worked closely with South Bend Orthopaedics to ensure that the equipment was installed and personnel were trained according to an established timeline. "Chris Cass was outstanding as were the engineers that installed the equipment. The apps specialist, Melissa (Melissa Dersham, R.T.) did an awesome job. She went above and beyond to make sure that the technologists were fully trained and all of their questions were addressed".

When asked if South Bend Orthopaedics would recommend Alpha Imaging to other potential customers, Stacey replied, "most definitely".

From Alpha Imaging's perspective, it doesn't get any better than that.
